GBDI (Good Behavior Dog International) is a private membership club operated by Kentaro Awata in Tokyo, Japan. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information from members, partner venues, and website visitors.

2. Information we collect
- Member applications: handler name, email, phone, address, dog name, breed, age, microchip ID, vaccination records.
- Assessment records: pass/fail results, evaluator notes, photos taken during assessment (with consent).
- Partner venue applications: business name, contact person, address, phone, email, business registration details.
- Website analytics: anonymized page views and basic browser info.
- Communications: email correspondence, support inquiries.
3. How we use information
- To process membership and partner-venue applications
- To verify member status when presenting Member Cards at partner venues
- To contact members about renewals, events, and important updates
- To improve the assessment program and partner network
- To comply with legal obligations (tax records, animal-handling business records)
4. What we publish on the website
With your consent, we publish member dog photos, dog name, breed, member number, and nationality on the public Member Directory. We do not publish handler full names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, or microchip IDs publicly. You may request removal of your public listing at any time.
5. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share information only with:
- Insurers — for liability claims involving member dogs at partner venues
- Partner venues — only the public Member Card information needed to verify membership
- Authorities — when required by Japanese law
6. Data retention
Member records are retained for the duration of membership plus 5 years after expiration (for warranty / claims purposes and for Animal Handler Business records as required by Japanese law). Tax records are retained for 7 years.
7. Your rights
Under Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (個人情報保護法), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. To exercise these rights, email [email protected].
